I enjoy interacting with nature and different people from different places. I love exploring different places. Traveling relaxes my mind and gives me inner peace. Basically i didn’t travel much or better say i didn’t get a chance to travel because my parents are strict or many such circumstances. Currently i am a student living in Bangalore. And honestly i don’t get enough holidays to travel and explore South India which is too beautiful.
So one day i was texting one of my friend who is in Bangalore. I asked her about her plans for Diwali vacations. She said that she wanted to go to Coorg and she asked me to come along. So i began to google about that place and seriously the pictures of that place was amazing. I called her the very next day and asked if we are going alone or someone else will join us. She said she will go along with two of her friend. I thought of taking my best friend with us. It was a trip of 2 days. I was so excited that i couldn’t sleep the previous night. Finally, on the day of Diwali we left for Coorg in the evening. We booked a cab and went to the bus stop. My friend along with her friends were supposed to come there only. Suddenly it started raining heavily. But, we finally reached. We were all sitting there waiting for the bus with our clothes all wet, but we were very excited to tolerate that easily. Finally, the bus arrived and we all started our journey. It was an overnight journey from Bangalore to Coorg. We reached Coorg around 5:00 am. We had already decided to take a homestay instead of hotel room. We finally found a beautiful homestay. Although it was a bit expensive but we were too tired and so we decided to manage with that. It was a beautiful place with two large bedrooms, a hall and a spacious kitchen. We kept our bags took rest for a while and we booked Mr. Ranjith, our guide with a cab for 5 people for 2 days. The guide was very friendly and took us to the most famous places of Coorg which is also known as mini Scotland of India.

So we all got ready by 9:00am. The first place we went was Dubare forest. But unluckily the queue was so long that till the time our turn came, it was already closed. We weren’t able to explore that place.

So we had our breakfast and went to our next destination that was Bhagamandala. It was a beautiful temple located around 35 km away from Madikeri. We went inside to seek god’s blessings. It was so peaceful.

Next we went to a place known as Chiklihole dam. It was a beautiful place with green fields on the other side of the dam. I really liked that place.

When asked where do we want to go next, I said that I really want to visit Abbey falls. It is one of the most famous falls in Coorg. We reached there and the water in the fall was at its best. Although we weren’t allowed to go near the fall. We could only see it from a distance, but still it was a nice view and the tiny droplets of water were coming on our faces and it felt so good.

The next place the guide took us was Nisargadhama forest. It was basically a park, which had few animals and beautiful tress and plants inside. The entry fees was just 10 Rupees per person for adults and Rs 5 for children. We sat there for some time to relax because there was nothing much to explore.

On the entrance there were very cute birds, rabbit, tortoise and few other animals. When we went inside, there was a hanging bridge, the bamboo park and different types of amusement rides. And in the end, there is a deer park. But overall it was a good place.
After that we were too tired to go anywhere so we headed to our homestay, had our dinner and we slept. Next morning we got up and packed our bags, paid the rent of the homestay and went to explore other destinations.

Our very first destination that day was Talacauvery known as the birth place of river Kaveri. To be honest it was the best place and my favourite one of course. So that place is located on Brahmagiri hills. And the view was so good from the top. There were mountains and hills all around and clouds seemed so near. We went there to pray to God. But to my shock we had to climb many more stairs to get the actual view and that too barefooted. We climbed many stairs and finally reached on the top. I was so tired that I was unable to walk further. I sat there, and the view from that place was so good that I was completely lost. We had our lunch in the temple, they provide food to all the people who visit there. That place is too good and too peaceful.

Next we went to Raja seat. It was basically a garden with seasonal flowers and fountains. It is a sunset point in Madikeri. The place has many colourful flowers and is very pretty. You’ll enjoy sunset there the most. The view is amazing. And outside, there are many small shops of toys or local chocolates, coffee etc.

Next we went to a fort. It was a small fort with nice architecture. We stayed there for a very short time because there was nothing interesting or beautiful view and it became dark too.

So lastly we went to Omkareshwara temple dedicated to lord Shiva. The place has a pond in between the temple with many beautiful fishes in there. The place is very calming and very beautiful. We had a nice time there.

After exploring all the places we had our dinner and little bit of shopping, we went to the bus stop to go back to Bangalore. The overall experience of Coorg was too good and it is one of my favorite travel destinations in South India. Do visit the place once. Because no place is as bad as they tell you it’s going to be.
